Playing Retro Clash in your browser
How to play Clash of Clans 1.70 in a browser tab on PC, Mac, Android or iPhone, with tips for a smoother game and quick fixes when it won't load.
You don’t need to install anything to play Retro Clash. The web version of Clash of Clans 1.70 runs in a normal browser tab, on a computer or a phone. This is also how you play on iPhone and iPad.
Which browsers work
Any up-to-date version of these:
- Google Chrome (Windows, Mac, Linux, Android)
- Microsoft Edge (Windows, Mac)
- Mozilla Firefox (Windows, Mac, Linux, Android)
- Safari (Mac, iPhone, iPad)
If the game won’t start, updating your browser is the first thing to try.
How to start
- Open the Retro Clash site and press Play in browser.
- Wait for the game to load. The first load takes the longest, because your browser downloads the game files. After that it usually starts faster.
- Play. Your progress is saved to your account, not to the browser.
Tips for a better game
- Go full screen. On a computer, press F11 (Windows) or Ctrl+Cmd+F (Mac) to hide the browser bars.
- Add it to your home screen on mobile. On iPhone, tap Share → Add to Home Screen. On Android in Chrome, tap the menu and then Add to Home screen. You get an icon that opens the game directly.
- Tap once for sound. Browsers block audio until you interact with the page, so sound starts after your first tap or click.
If it won’t load
- Refresh the page. It fixes most one-off loading problems.
- Turn off content blockers for the site. Some ad or script blockers can stop the game files from loading.
- Clear the site’s data. In your browser settings, clear cached files for the site and try again.
- Check your connection. The game needs a stable connection to our servers.
- Check Discord. If something is wrong on our side, it will be announced on our Discord server.
Browser or APK?
Both run the same version on the same account. The browser is the quickest way in and works everywhere. On Android, the APK gives you a full-screen app with its own icon. Many players use both: the browser at a computer, the app on the go.
